Punching Pandas are now on Redbubble!

I’m happy to announce that the Punching Pandas are now on Redbubble! Now you can have your favorite panda art on a hoodie, a phone case, a mug, and even a duvet cover! I also included some of my other non-panda art on Redbubble which you can browse in the “Nolen Lee Art” section. Don’t forget to click the “Follow” link so you can get updates when a new product is uploaded.

I will still have my own site store running on this site, but I’m transitioning it to only carry original art and special pieces; you can access links to both stores under the “Shop” menu in the header. Make sure to check back every now and then for new products and updates. Cheers!

Pandawatch

So I decided to do a series of pandas based on the popular videogame Overwatch. At first I was only going to do a couple of them, but then, like all things, I got carried away. Check out the individual pandas below!Read More »Pandawatch

“What Tools Do You Use?”

Sometimes I’m asked, “What pen do you use?” or “What kind of pencil is that?”  or “What kind of tablet do you like?” I’ve been asked about my art supplies so much now, that I think it’s helpful to provide a blog post about the topic.

Before I go into my art supplies, I need to say that it doesn’t matter what tool an artist uses, it’s the artist behind the tool that matters. While working with good art tools is nice, it’s the artist’s fundamentals that provide the foundation for great art.

It would be too long of a post to talk about all of my art supplies. So for now, I’ll show what art supplies I use for my inkwork and for when I sketch on the go. I also provided links below to each item in case you’re interested in finding them for yourself.Read More »“What Tools Do You Use?”

Why I Love Art Challenges

Recently I had someone ask me how I got back into art after taking a break from drawing for six years while studying engineering. I told him in general terms to develop a habit of drawing a lot and that over time his skills would improve. But just drawing for it’s own sake can be boring after a while, so I also add that it would help to set some mini-goals for motivation. That’s where art challenges come in.

How Watercolors Are Made!

Hey everyone, I have a cool project that I can finally share! My friend Sandy Allnock and I recently finished a collaboration based on our visit to the Daniel Smith store in Seattle where we had the privilege of seeing how watercolors are made. After our tour, Sandy and I created a special video presentation of the watercolor-making process for Ellen Hutson’s YouTube channel where I was able to illustrate the process with my pandas. You can see the timelapse footage of the paintings in the video below.

I also created a poster of all of the pandas and a print of the paint panda in the featured image above. You can check out the panda poster and the paint panda print on my shop which are on sale until the end of March!

Monsters and Dames submission

Here’s a piece that I recently completed for Emerald City Comicon’s “Monsters and Dames” art book. If my piece is selected, it will be part of an art book that will be sold at ECCC to benefit the Seattle Children’s Hospital. I will hear back from the curators later this month if my piece is selected, so hopefully I will hear back from them soon. Here’s hoping!

I also posted the timelapse video on YouTube. Go check it below!

UPDATE: Panda was selected! Also check out panda’s other MND submissions: 2023, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017.
