Inktober, Day 4

Feeling a bit jumpy today. Pogo Pandas for Day 4 of Inktober!

Inktober, Day 3

Hope your week is a delicious one! Pineapple Panda for Day 3 of Inktober!

Inktober, Day 1

Inktober is upon us! It’s time to bust out those art Ink supplies and start cracking! I’m still going with my alliteration theme for these drawings, and I already have all of the topics listed out. If you’re curious about what tools I use for my Inktober pieces, you can check out this post I wrote a few months ago.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this month’s posts, I’m a bit behind in posting these here, but I’ll post the last 5 days (and hopefully today’s) including a new comic as well. With that said, on to the Inktober posts! Day 1: Puppet Panda.

Rose City Comic Con! More Pre-commission slots!

Yesterday, I posted my appearance for Fan Expo Canada in Toronto during Labor Day weekend for my Canadian audience. Today is for my fellow ‘MURICANS. I will be tabling at the Rose City Comic Con down in my hometown of Portland at Table D-10! In addition, I am opening up pre-commission slots for those of you attending RCCC. If you are interested in an ink commission, the starting prices for a single character with minimal background are as follows:

  • 5×7 – $30 USD
  • 8×10 – $45 USD
  • 11×17 – $100 USD

Please email your name, your commission request, and the day you want to pick up the piece to punchingpandas on gmail. After your request has been approved, I will send you my Paypal info and will start on the commission when I receive payment. I’m going to start with 10 commission slots for now, and if I have time for anymore, I’ll open more slots. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Pandawatch

So I decided to do a series of pandas based on the popular videogame Overwatch. At first I was only going to do a couple of them, but then, like all things, I got carried away. Check out the individual pandas below!Read More »Pandawatch

Why I Love Art Challenges

Recently I had someone ask me how I got back into art after taking a break from drawing for six years while studying engineering. I told him in general terms to develop a habit of drawing a lot and that over time his skills would improve. But just drawing for it’s own sake can be boring after a while, so I also add that it would help to set some mini-goals for motivation. That’s where art challenges come in.

How Watercolors Are Made!

Hey everyone, I have a cool project that I can finally share! My friend Sandy Allnock and I recently finished a collaboration based on our visit to the Daniel Smith store in Seattle where we had the privilege of seeing how watercolors are made. After our tour, Sandy and I created a special video presentation of the watercolor-making process for Ellen Hutson’s YouTube channel where I was able to illustrate the process with my pandas. You can see the timelapse footage of the paintings in the video below.

I also created a poster of all of the pandas and a print of the paint panda in the featured image above. You can check out the panda poster and the paint panda print on my shop which are on sale until the end of March!
